A Night at the Crescent Hotel in Eureka Springs

My name is Mary and I recently went to Eureka Springs, Arkansas and stayed at the Crescent Hotel. We (my sister and I) checked into room 419 and then went to Dr.Baker's lounge for dinner. We had no drinks (just coke) and returned to our room after exploring the hotel, it was about 10 pm. We got to our door and noticed the hotel cat (frisco) was lounged out in front of our door (like he was waiting for us), we had food left over so we figured the cat smelled the food and he was just hungry. We didn't pay the cat much mind, and shut the door.

About 30 minutes later, I wanted some ice from the 3rd floor and decided to go, when I opened the door, there fresco was again, only this time he got inside the room. I figured this is one hungry cat so I offered him our leftovers, nope he wasn’t interested in that, all of a sudden he freaks out darting around the room, scratching at the walls, hissing and growling at unseen "things”, we tried remove him, but he was just too shook up and angry, so we had to call down to the front desk and have him removed (the front desk clerk had to wrestle him to get him out) he wasn't going without a fight! So after that, we settled into bed, watching TV, I lit up a cigarette, that’s when I seen the first flashes of light in the corner of my eye. I didn't think nothing of it, but i kept seeing them, they were so fast I thought it was my eyes playing tricks on me. I felt like someone was in my face watching me, my sister felt the same. After that, we turned off the lights and tried to go to sleep, hearing unexplained noises coming from the bathroom, again we just brushed it off.

Then the feeling of my heart racing started you know when you feel like your heart will jump out of your chest at any moment? I tossed and turned still with that feeling of watchful eyes, finally at 5 in the morning my sister and I couldn't take it anymore! We had two breakfast tickets but breakfast wasn't until 8 am but we couldn't stay in that room another minute! So we were packing and I reached for my smokes, but they were no longer on my bedside. I searched high and low and could not find them! To this day, I don't know where they went. We went into the hotel hoping to find something and we got more than we asked for! Come to find out, room 419 is what they call, Theodora's room and she is known to be a very territorial spirit and she use to take care of sick patients recovering from cancer. (that explained the smokes missing) I have returned since then but I have not stayed in her room, although there really hasn't been any activity quite like that night since then!

We also recently stayed in the New Orleans Hotel in Eureka Springs, just last night actually and had a personal experience as well. My sister and I were sitting on the bed watching TV and playing on the computer when all of a sudden we both heard the sound of someone messing with the chain on the door, like as if someone chains the lock from the inside! I looked at my sister and said "did you hear that?" She nodded and I went to check it out, the chain was still swinging but no one was there or out in the hallway, so I called downstairs thinking maybe someone in the room next to us chained their door but the front desk man said the room next to us was unoccupied! So once again, hello spirits!
